Stunning views and incredible history on this Private Day Tour

Our first stop on our Private Day Tour is Stirling Castle! Scotland’s most important Castle.

Perched on a volcanic rock dating back 350 million years, Stirling is the most fought over Castle in Scotland. On your Scottish vacation or as part of your European travels, because of this, you must visit Stirling Castle.

The strategic importance of Stirling Castle was such that, if you did not hold it, your grip on power would be loose, to say the least.
Mary Queen of Scots was crowned at Stirling Castle and her tale which ends so tragically in 1587 has been told and retold over the centuries.

We continue our Scottish day tour, into a wonderful part of the Southern Highlands called the “Trossachs”
‘Rugged or rough ground’ is the Gaelic meaning. It is
a part of Scotland often described as the Highlands in miniature.

Besprinkled with Lochs, glens and glorious mountains this part of Scotland has many secrets and has hidden Kings, Queens, rebels and rogues.

Historical figures such as Sir Walter Scott, Queen Victoria, Robert Burns, Dorothy and William Wordsworth to name a few, were enchanted by this area. We shall follow in their footsteps.
As an infant Mary Queen of Scots felt safe here, escaping the clutches of King Henry the VIII by hiding on a little-visited Island in the middle of a loch.

Rob Roy MacGregor, a highland warrior, Jacobite and a man famous in his own lifetime walked these hills and sheltered in these glens.

As we bob and weave across the land on our private day tour, lovely Lochside restaurants, traditional pubs or cafes are available for lunch. Sampling fresh Scottish produce is all part of the journey.

Loch Lomond is described as the jewel of the National Park, and on the quiet side of the loch, beautiful short walks and stunning views of the ‘Highland Line’ can be had from a small seclude bay on the shores of the famous Bonny Banks. https://www.lochlomond-trossachs.org

The wonderful aspect of private, bespoke day tours with Scottish Guided Tours is we can tailor the day to your requirements and time scales.

If you wish to add one of Scotland’s famous Whisky Distilleries for a small drop of the ‘water of life’ or take a small boat trip to a little visited island and home to a 13th century Priory, then we can plan the day accordingly.
