The Viking Coast Day Tours

Our private day tour follows the North Sea coastal road, taking us south across the border into England. The beautiful Holy Island of Lindisfarne. awaits.

In AD793, Viking longboats slid onto the shores of this small Northumbrian island and changed history forever.

Above all Lindisfarne is beautiful, has a unique feel and is a place steeped in early Christianity and, it must be said, a bloody history.

The Lindisfarne Priory dates back to the 7th century and is close to the heart of the village. Nearby is St Aidens Winery visitor centre, and home to Lindisfarne Mead. Aparantly a bottle or two can bring you closer to God!!

Day tour to Lindisfarne or Holy Island on a lovely sunny spring day from Edinburgh

Lindisfarne is a peaceful island, with the magnificent 16th-century Lindisfarne Castle sitting on a cliff above the ocean.

The village has lovely cafes, award winning coffee at Pilgrims Coffee and access to wonderful coastal walks. As a result, Holy Island makes for an ideal first stop on our day tour.

Alnwick Castle & Gardens

Alnwick Castle can only be described as a classic, stunning English Castle and a favourite on day tours.

Home to the Duke of Northumberland and his family. The Percy`s have held this castle for over 700 years!!

Firstly, Alnwick Castle itself is breathtaking and full of wonderful art collections.

The art collections at Alnwick castle are described as  ” …one of the most important collections..outside the Royal Collection..”  It is truly ducal in proportion, scale and quality.

Many movies & TV shows have been filmed at Alnwick but most famously, Harry Potter !! Alnwick Castle doubled as Hogwarts in the movie franchise and you can tour the films locations througout the Castle.
