Scotch whisky is ingrained in Scottish culture.
Ancient Scots used it to heal common ailments and keep warm throughout the winter.
Scottish whisky exports make up one quarter of the UK’s international food and drink trade and as a result, a wee dram is all part of your Scotland tour.
Whisky is a fascinating part of Scottish heritage, and on this Whisky tour from Edinburgh, you will learn about it at 3 distinct distilleries.
Whisky Tour from Edinburgh
First stop is Glenkinchie Distillery, 15 minutes from the capital and an ideal first stop.
In 1825, farmers John and George Rate built and operated the distillery under the name Milton Distillery until it was licenced and renamed in 1837.
Next is Glengoyne Distillery; a quaint distillery located at the foot of the Dumgoyne Hill near Loch Lomond. Ideally located on the highland divide and because of its proximity to the famous Loch, makes it an ideal lunch stop.
Guided Tours of Scotland
